Saturday Night's Main Event XVI, April 30th, 1988

The WWF comes to you from Springfield with a post WrestleMania IV show that signals a changing of the guard. There's no Hogan to be found! The new undisputed champ Randy Savage takes on the behemoth One Man Gang and Slick steals the show. Duggan furthers his feud with Andre by taking on Heenan family member Hercules and the Bulldogs tangle with the new tag champions Demolition. NWA Crockett Cup 1986 Part 2 (Patreon Exclusive)

The greatest combined list of tag teams ever assembled for a tournament battle it out for the 1 Million Dollar cheque. The show dives into a 4+ hour file without commentary. We go through the finishes of the matches all the way to the eventual winner and a classic trophy presentation that will never be forgotten. The show wraps up with a "What If" segment where we speculate how this tournament could have gone if all of the top teams from the other promotions had joined as well. It's a fun excursion from the very early days of our show.

WWF April 1988

The WrestleMania IV tourney is in the rear view mirror, the crew heads over seas for a short European tour and the WWF takes a break for a few weeks. But we still have all that pre-taped TV to tide us over on the path to the next Saturday Night's Main Event. The Andre vs Hacksaw feud comes into focus, Koko puts up quite the fight against the Ravishing One. Speaking of Rude, his post match antics lead to major troubles when he picks the wrong lady in the crowd & we look at Randy Savage's first ever title defense as the World Champion. We also report on a local show as the Brawl In the Hall entertains the Macho MANitoban!

Part 2 of this epic card features two matches that help to define the year and the decade. Barry Windham & Lex Luger challenge the World Tag Team Champions - Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson. The main event is the match that launched Sting to superstardom as he challenges the Worlds Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. Can the Horsemen survive their greatest challenges? Will JJ survive his time high above the ring in the shark cage? Turner and the NWA took their best shot at the WrestleMania and delivered with an incredible card.

NWA Clash of the Champions, March 27, 1988 Part 1

TBS fires a major shot at the WWF when they broadcast their answer to Saturday Night's Main Event in direct competition with WrestleMania IV. The superior card was free to watch on TV for those of you lucky enough to have the station at the time. The TV title is defended in a special Amateur Rules match, the US Tag Titles are up for grabs in a wild Memphis Wrestling style brawl & we wrap up part 1 with a blood feud. The Road Warriors and Dusty Rhodes take on the Powers of Pain and Ivan Koloff in a 6-man Barb Wire Match. Pay back for the weightlifting treachery is on tap.

NWA March 1988 - Path to the Clash

The premise and promise of our show finally takes shape as our multiverse of wrestling timelines sync up to introduce TBS's Clash of the Champions to the wrestling landscape. This episode sets up the Clash; an iconic moment in Apter mags history sees the Road Warriors and Powers of Pain clash over bar bells, Rotunda leads the Varsity Club in a feud with Jimmy Garvin, the Fantastics make their official NWA debut and deliver one of the best tag matches of all time and we unearth the Flair vs Sting match that Geoff has talked about all this time and its not the match we thought it was. Our epic journey through the 1988 championship tournament finally comes to a conclusion! We cover the 6-man tag and World Tag Team title matches along with the Semis and Finals of the tournament. Andre chokes Eucher and a drunk fan interjects himself into the proceedings more than once. The show is wrapped up with a fun "What If" segment where we re-book the tournament.
